Life imitating Art imitating life? If you ever watched the classic 1960 TV show, “Get Smart”, you’ll remember Agent 86 and his ‘shoe-phone’. Well, Samsung has invented the Shortcut Sneaker, a running shoe that can make phone calls! It’s operated with discrete foot movements, recognized by motion sensors in the soles. You tap your heels (like Dorothy) and your Smart Phone does the rest! Sadly, the company is making just six pairs, available only through contest winners. Sorry about that, Chief!

Dateline: Kenya, Africa

They never forget! Scientists studying African elephants at the Samburu National Reserve and Amboseli National Park have discovered that they call and respond to one another using individual names! They are expressed in low rumbles that can be heard over long distances. Many of the noises are low enough not to be heard by humans. When scientists played recordings back to individual elephants, they responded energetically to those that contained their names. No word on how soon they’ll be an elephant Facebook.

Dateline: North Little Rock, Arkansas

You want fries with him? Tayvia Woodfork, 26, of Mississippi was feeling a might peckish. Feeling the burning pains of hunger, she sallied forth and entered her favorite restaurant, Golden Corral, to dine away. However, in the middle of her meal, she experienced stomach pains and went into the restroom where she delivered a 6-lb boy, Tamaar Kylon Corral Woodfork! Yes, that third name is a tribute to the restaurant. Golden Corral shared news of the birth on their Facebook page and even gifted the new mom a $200 gift card! Y’all come back soon, y’hear!
